國際貨幣基金（IMF）預估2017年全球經濟成長將由2016年的3.1％上升至3.4％，不論是成熟市場或新興市場，成長均加速。當全球景氣能見度愈來愈高，積極操作型的資金流出債券市場，轉往股票等風險性商品，業績改善也進一步推動公司股價，從資金面及基本面的角度來看，全球中小型股可望有不錯的行情。
只是升息哨音響起，讓我們對於資產配置不免有「茫然感」，不妨參考2004年那一次的升息循環經驗，觀察當時升息後的股市走勢（2004到2007年），美國中小型股獲利明顯優於大型股，而且在Fed首次升息後的1年、2年、3年漲勢皆優於大型股；展望2017年，全球中小型股企業獲利上看19.2％，同樣優於大型股的13.6％。
目前全球中小型股指數當中，有逾半數為美國企業，當川普贏得勝選，從其在選戰期間的政策宣示來看，全球貿易保護的氣氛恐怕逐漸提高，跨國投資的大企業難免受到衝擊，反觀中小型股，堪稱「川普新政」下的頭號受惠者。
美國中小型股往往在本土設廠，海外營收占比較小，既沒有「鮭魚返鄉」的難題要解決，又可以享用川普端上的減稅大菜，獲利能力跟著提升，從川普勝選後一個月的指數表現來看，中小型股明顯略勝一籌。
也許投資人會疑惑，所謂的「中小型股」該如何定義？我認為，不妨鎖定全世界市值在5億美元以上、小於100億美元的中小型公司，提前布局這種潛在波動性不大，且具長期成長潛力的中小型企業，不但能掌握其蛻變為大型企業的爆發力，更重要的是，投資產業無須設限、涵蓋全球，也有分散風險的效果。
